CEDARS School Painting Competition
More than 80 students took part in a creative competition
In celebration of International Children's Day, CEDARS - Jebel Ali International Hospital hosted a painting competition open to students of nearby schools that served as a channel to discover artistic inclinations of children.
The first prize was awarded to Anubhav Rathore from Delhi Private School. The seven year old student convinced the jury with a colorful picture which beautifully depicts nature using different kinds of material. Two more winners and one winner of "People's Choice" also received exciting prizes during an award ceremony which was held at the hospital on 15th of June.
"The School Painting Competition was a great success since we have received more than 80 entries from different schools. We were all really overwhelmed with joy when we realized how much dedication and efforts the students have invested in their creative works. It was really a difficult task to choose the best paintings", says Anne-Susann Becker, Executive Board Member at CEDARS – Jebel Ali International Hospital.
All the winning entries and another 11 selected paintings will be displayed at a permanent art exhibition at the hospital. All schools in Dubai, particularly in the area from Jebel Ali to Al Barsha, were invited to join. Students starting from the age of 6 to 10 years could choose between three topics: "Me and my doctor", "My favorite activity" and "Nature".
"With this campaign we wanted to raise awareness amongst children for a healthy lifestyle by encouraging them to develop artistic skills and reflect on how they spend their free time. We also appeal to parents for supporting an active lifestyle with fun filled activities", says Dr. Ziaul Akhter, Specialist Pediatrician at CEDARS – Jebel Ali International Hospital. Children's Day is celebrated in many places around the world in particular to honor children.
