Ear, nose and throat infections are among the most commonly found bacterial diseases. At CEDARS- Jebel Ali International Hospital we strive to create an ENT specialty for providing medical treatment and diagnosis facilities for ear, nose, and throat (ENT) related diseases and disorders.

Gastroenterology & Endoscopy

Since the opening of this unit it has been a very active unit in providing gastroenterology services for New Dubai Areas, being the main reference institute for the labor work force inside of JAFZA. The unit has also inpatient facilities.

The unit has been equipped with an up to date endoscopic facilities including three of video-endoscopy systems and one endoscopic ultrasonic system, portable x-ray with floroscopy image intensifier unit ultrasonic unit with doppler facilities plasma argon gas coagulator and other ancillary equipments that allows the physicians to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures up to the best International standards.

General & Abdominal Laparoscopic Surgery

Abdominal Surgery is performed by laparoscopic & open approach, dependent on the underlying disease.

Laparoscopic Surgery (Key-hole Surgery) is preferably used for cholecystectomy (removal of gallbladder) and for obesity surgery.

Obesity or Bariatric Surgery is provided for patients who suffer from severe or morbid obesity, which means having a body mass index above 40.

Surgery also may be an option for people with a BMI between 35 and 40, who suffer from life-threatening obesity-related diseases like diabetes, hypertension or sleep apnea. For these patients the procedure of choice is laparoscopic Gastric Banding, implanting an Adjustable Gastric Band, which creates a partitioning of the stomach. The very small top pouch allows only a small amount of food to be ingested at one time. The band is adjust- able according to patients needs, and the procedure is reversible.

Obese people with a BMI just above 30 are not yet candidates for surgery, but need an effective treatment and control of their overweight. For these patients we provide at our hospital the endoscopically implanted & explanted Intragastric Balloon.

Laparotomy (Open approach) is used for appendectomy, intestinal obstruction etc. Surgery of the abdominal wall includes all types of Hernias, which we repair predominantly by mesh implantation.

Anorectal Surgery (hemorrhoids, abscesses & fistulas) and Genito-Urinary Surgery (Circumcision, Hydrocele etc.) rounds off abdominal surgery.

Soft Tissue Surgery provided by us includes for instance operations for goiter, breast tumors, skin & soft tissue tumors, varicous veins and much more. That means that the full spectrum of General & Abdominal Surgery is covered by our hospital, in which a comprehensive diagnostic workup is available (Radiology, including CT-scan, Gastroenterology & Cardiology).

General Medicine

The General Medicine Department of CEDARS – Jebel Ali International Hospital, Dubai provides initial treatment to patients with a broad spectrum of illnesses and injuries, some of which may be life-threatening and requiring immediate attention.

Upon arrival in the A&E, our patients undergo a brief triage to help determine the nature and severity of their illness. Individuals with serious illnesses are then seen by a physician more rapidly than those with less severe symptoms or injuries. After initial assessment and treatment, patients are either admitted to the hospital or discharged.

The staff in the General Medicine department not only includes doctors and nurses with specialized training in emergency medicine but in house emergency medical technicians, radiology technicians, emergency responders, ambulance paramedics and other support staff who all work as a team to treat emergency cases as well.

LIFE SUPPORT TRAINING CENTER

INTRODUCTION:

The Life Support Training Center at CEDARS - Jebel Ali International Hospital is committed to training the public and professional communities in order to improve Health and Safety in the Workplace. Through an alliance with the American Heart Association, we offer classes in Basic First Aid, and Basic Life Support.

All courses are designed and delivered with a hands-on approach. The learner is encouraged to practice and demonstrate both the skills and the knowledge necessary to save lives. These classes are valuable as they touch both laypersons and health care providers.

CEDARS Training Center is authorized by EHS (Environment, Health and Safety), approved by DOHMS, MOH (Ministry of Health), and Dubai Ambulance Services to conduct Basic First Aid and Basic Life Support courses; and Approved for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activity from DHA Accreditation Committee (4 CPD Points for BLS course).

Our instructors are AHA (American Heart Association) certified and use educational adjuncts and realistic scenario-based teaching to target specific provider needs.

The education provided at our Training Center has the potential to touch thousands of people in their most dire hour of need. Through education, we hope to make a difference in the everyday lives of everyday people throughout the community.

Diagnostic services
When you feel pain, you know there's something wrong. But if the problem is deep within your muscles, bones or joints, how does your doctor determine what is happening?

The conventional X-ray still plays an important role in orthopedic diagnosis. Great care is taken not to exceed safe dosages, and no radiation remains in your body after an X-ray examination.
