Prof. Dr. Guenther Kieninger
Specialist Surgery / Head of Department of Surgery and Medical Director

Prof. Dr. Guenther Kieninger is the Medical Director and Member of the Management of CEDARS Jebel Ali International Hospital. Since 1980 he is Professor of Surgery of the University of Tuebingen, Germany. He was the Director of the Dept. for General-, Visceral- and Trauma Surgery of the Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt Hospital from 1983 until 2003. In 1991 he was elected as the Chairman of the Surgeons Association for the Central Rhine Area.

Since 2004 Prof.Kieninger is the Head of Department of Surgery and the Medical Director of CEDARS- Jebel Ali International Hospital.

Dr. Koneru Surya P. Rao
M.D. Chief Anaesthesiologist

Dr. K. S. P. Rao is highly experienced Anaesthesiologist worked with Federal Ministry of Health of the UAE in Sharjah for 22 years (from 1981 to 2003). He has worked in Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery and Obstetrics and Gynaecology for 7 years after M.B;B.S Degree from Jabalpur University (M.P) India.

Later he joined in Shiraz University in Iran and completed specialization, got his Master Degree in Anaesthesiology.

Dr. Rao worked for 1 year with Ministry of Health in Iran, too.

Dr. K. S. P. Rao is now M.D. Chief Anaesthesiologist at CEDARS – Jebel Ali International Hospital. He is Anaesthetist in General Anaesthesia, Regional Blocks and Management of ICU & CCU.

Since September 2004 Dr. Rao is conducting a very successful Pain Clinic. He is very fond of giving chronic Pain relieving injections (around 50 per Month). Dr. Rao gives vigorous Physiotherapy after relieving the pain, so that patient could practice at home.

Dr. Ali Hassan, MD, F.A.F.C., F.A.C.S.
Specialist General, Oncologic and Breast Surgery / Head of the Breast Unit

• Former Professor at the Lebanese University for Behavioral Biology

Dr. Hassan is practicing General Surgery and Traumatology since more than 30 years. He received his medical education at the University of Tubingen and his surgical degree at the University of Aachen, Germany.

He was appointed 1st Oberarzt at St. Willibroidun Hospital, Germany (1973 - 1974).

From 1975 – 1982, Dr. Hassan worked as Chief Surgeon at the Arab Research Center for injuries in Beirut and the PRCS.

From 1983 – 1993, he was Medical Director and Chief Surgeon of Doctor's Hospital in Beirut.

From 1999 – 2003, Dr. Hassan was Chief of Board of Al Batroun Hospital Lebanon.

Dr. Hassan is editor of the Alphabetical Medical Encyclopedia in Arabic and author of many articles in abdominal breast and war Surgery.

He is expert in Forensic Medicine at the Lebanese Supreme Court and former Executive Director of Robodoc Middle East (Robotic Surgery).

Dr. Hassan is now acting in CEDARS - Jebel Ali International Hospital as Specialist in General, Oncologic and Breast Surgery. He is the Head of the Breast Surgery Unit.

Dr. Vijay Bhatia
Chief Radiologist / Head of the Department of Radiodiagnosis & Imaging

With nearly 9 years of experience in the field of Radiology and Imaging, Dr. Vijay Bhatia is well acquainted with imaging modalities like CT and MRI, apart from routine X-rays, Special procedures (Barium swallow, Barium meal & enemas), IVU and HSG.

He has always had special interest in Ultrasonography – Routine, Obstetric and Gynecological, Small parts like thyroid, testes, breasts etc., Color Doppler studies for Deep Vein Thrombosis, Carotid arteries, Peripheral Vascular disease, Varicocele, Transvaginal & Transrectal sonography of prostate.

His expertise also includes Digital Mammography with experience in nuclear medicine and is versatile in almost all aspects of the specialty including pediatric imaging. In addition to this, he had also conducted a study on Peripheral Artery disease of the lower limbs.

Prior to joining CEDARS – Jebel Ali International Hospital, Dr. Vijay Bhatia was a Radiologist in New Medical Centre Hospital, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Dr. Vijay obtained his MBBS from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore India and eventually his MD from Jawaharlal Medical College, Belgaum, Kartanaka, India.

Dr. Mohd Reza Abbaslou

Dr. Reza Abbaslou is MD Radiologist. He is holding a Board Certification of diagnostic Radiology and Medical Imaging Degree from Kerman University, Iran. Dr. Reza has got Neuroradiology Fellowship from Royal London Hospital, London, UK.

Dr. Reza has more than 9 years experience as a Radiologist in Iran and different well-known Hospitals in Dubai.

Now he is The Chief of Radiology Department at CEDARS - Jebel Ali International Hospital. His special Interest is Cross sectional Radiology including Brain and Spine as well as Interventional Radiology.

Dr. Hadi is highly qualified and experienced Ophthalmologist with 15 years experience in ophthalmology. He graduated from SHIRAZ MEDICAL UNIVERSITY, IRAN in 1985 as Medical Doctor (General Practitioner ) and did his 4 years ophthalmology residency program in that university and graduated in1995 as Specialist Ophthalmologist. He also has extensive experience (14 years) in Saudi Arabia in the Ministry of Health as Specialist Pediatrician in the field of General Pediatrics and Neonatology.

He worked in Zulekha Hospital, Dubai before joining CEDARS – Jebel Ali International Hospital. At CEDARS, He established the Neonatology department.

Dr. Prafull Shah

She received her Bachelor Degree in Medicine and Master Degree in Clinical Pathology in Ain Shams University, Egypt.

Dr. Nagwan Said Mohamed
Pediatric Registrar

Dr. Nagwan obtained her M.B.B.S from the Cairo University in Egypt in the year 1995. She further obtained her Post Graduate Diploma in Pediatrics from the Suez Cana University also in Egypt in 2002.

Dr. Nagwan has more than 10 years experience in the field of General Pediatrics and Neonatology, including 7 years work experience in Al Naser General Hospital. She worked in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric department in a tertiary care hospital in Port Said, Egypt. She has further worked in Al Baha, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for 3 years as a Pediatric Specialist.

She has undergone Neonatal resuscitation program in collaboration with the American Academy of Pediatrics.
